Timeless Hot Wheels
A good friend of mine Drew Dougherty at Brand-X Creative just went live with some great new product graphics for Hot Wheels. Beautiful work… and a long way from “my” old Hot Wheels cars!
I guess it’s well known that kids and adults love cars, and as the cars change, so must the toys/models that emulate them.
I haven’t thought about HotWheels since I was a kid… I had tons of those little cars, trucks, fire engines and more. Like every kid, they were all over the house, in couch cushions, under beds, in closets. Like a dog hiding and digging up bones, every once in a while I’d find one that had been hidden for a while. Then it was “new” again…
It’s great to see that the brand can evolve and keep current.
Too bad US automakers can’t seem to keep current with their real cars.
Regaining sales momentum is tough but not impossible. Nissan did it in the late 1990s and Chrysler a few years later. In each case the recipe was the same: be early to market with hot designs, top technology and true value for money.
As much as anything, that is the recipe for saving America’s auto industry.
Can they bring some sizzle back to their brands?
(Maybe they should hire Drew? 8-)
